Tips for staying safe

With safety for both people and pets in mind, please leave the pyrotechnics to the professionals. Fireworks that explode, emit a loud bang, leave the ground due to an explosive charge, or fly through the air are always illegal in the City of Westminster and the state of Colorado unless used in conjunction with an approved public firework display authorized by the fire department. Some fireworks are permissible if they are non-explosive pyrotechnics that are not intended to leave the ground or create a loud noise and include:

  • Fountains
  • Ground spinners
  • Illuminating torches
  • Dipped sticks and sparklers
  • Trick noise makers

The fireworks listed above are allowed from midnight Wednesday, July 3 through noon Friday, July 5.

For a full list of illegal fireworks and more information, view our fireworks fact sheet below.

To report illegal use of fireworks, call the non-emergency police/fire line at 303-658-4360.

To report repeat violators, anonymous tips can be left at 303-706-3812.

If there is a fire or injury related to fireworks, please call 911.

Have a fun and safe Fourth of July!
