Testimonials
"Thanks to you and the City of Westminster for getting this program going. I was very happy to be able to volunteer. The household that I was matched with is very appreciative of the work that I have been doing for them. I am also continuing into the fall with them to get their yard racked. But best of all, I have made a couple of new friends and I think they feel the same way about me. With the pandemic going on, they were very grateful to have someone come by once or twice a week and do some yard work and then sit down outside and chat for a while. So keep up the good work with these types of programs. I am very proud of what the City of Westminster is doing to help out our community during these trying times. I know that the City is also doing great things with the Growing Home food bank. As well as other programs, too. I am very happy to be a Westminster resident." ... Carl Trautman, Volunteer
"I wanted to let you know how happy we are with Ava and Renee. Those two young women worked so hard. We got so many compliments on how nice our lawn was looking. They are reliable and just wondrful." ... Debbie & Randy Ketterman, Westminster Resident
Diversity & Inclusion Statement
As our city’s vision states, we are a thriving community of safe neighborhoods and beautiful open space that is sustainable and inclusive. Volunteer Westminster strives to have a diverse and inclusive population of volunteers and our program allows for participation, regardless of race, gender, political affiliation, class, education, geography, interests, disability, sexual orientation, age, culture, etc. We recognize that volunteering not only provides a chance to find and actively engage one’s passion but that it also provides an opportunity to obtain skills that can be applicable to future employment or other life experiences. Additionally, we understand that volunteering is a tool for empowering people to fulfill their potential and contribute to social change.
Because of the nature of volunteer opportunities, our bottom line and drive behind all policies and procedures is about safety and respect. Regardless of one’s physical, mental, or emotional ability, all decisions are directed in regards with safety in mind: safety for the volunteers and staff, and safety for the public. It is the responsibility of the Volunteer Program Staff to be sure that safety stays our priority. This is our main focus regardless of any one person’s skills or abilities. Should a volunteer disclose a disability or illness that could potentially affect their volunteer duties, we will engage in a timely, good-faith, and interactive process with the volunteer to determine whether there is an effective, reasonable accommodation that will enable the volunteer to be successful in their volunteer position. Each accommodation is made on a case-by-case basis and is at the discretion of the Volunteer Program Staff.
