This evening around 7:55pm Westminster officers were called to the 9000 block of Lowell Boulevard on a male subject who had been sitting in a white Ford Explorer for over an hour. The original caller was able to provide a license plate to dispatch and the vehicle was listed as an active stolen car from Denver. When officers attempted to contact the driver of the stolen car he alluded them and rammed several unoccupied civilian cars and one police car. The officer suffered minor injuries.
Westminster Officers pursued the car onto Highway 36 and then on to Interstate 270. Officers terminated the pursuit at 270 and York. The next exit officers could exit off of the highway was Vasquez Boulevard. As officers exited the highway, they observed the vehicle had crashed and caught on fire, and the sole male occupant was walking away from the accident. Officers attempted to contact the adult male suspect who initially did not comply, but he was eventually taken into custody.
