The Briggs Greenhouse Center is located at 7152 Raleigh Street in Historic Westminster. The state-of-the-art facility was built in 1994, and expanded to 12,000 square feet in 2019. The greenhouse is used to produce more than 45,000 plants each year including plants and flowers, as well as herb and vegetable seeds for the City’s annual and perennial gardens, flower beds/pots and community gardens. The greenhouse is managed by staff from Westminster’s Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department who work year-round to grow and maintain the plants.
Very few municipalities along the Front Range own a greenhouse, making Westminster’s horticulture program unique. The benefits of the Briggs Greenhouse Center are beautified landscapes for the community, an increased number of drought tolerant plants introduced to the City, and habitats provided for pollinators. Greenhouse staff are dedicated to exploring sustainable gardening techniques, and aim to introduce innovative and redeveloped landscapes to Westminster.
