Date – January 13, 2021

On January 11, 2021 at approximately 6:45am, a guest of the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, located at 12095 Mariposa St, was advised by family members that someone was breaking into his vehicle which was parked in the hotel lot.  The owner went outside and confronted the suspect.  During the confrontation, an exchange of gunfire occurred between the suspect and the vehicle owner, who was hit.  The suspect then got into a light-colored Ford F-250 pickup and fled the scene.  It is unknown if the suspect(s) were struck. 

Westminster officers responded to the scene along with Westminster Fire/Rescue units and the victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.  The victim is currently in serious condition but is expected to survive.

The Westminster Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect vehicle and any information about the occupant(s).  The suspect vehicle is described as a silver or light-colored, Ford F-250, crew cab.  It is possible that the pickup was damaged in the shooting and may have bullet holes.  We do not have a suspect description.
