71st Street Hooker Street Officer Involved Shooting

Date – September 26, 2019

This morning around 9:20am Westminster Police received a 911 call from a female stating her ex-husband just told her he was on his way to kill her.  She told police she believed he may be armed with a gun he stole from her yesterday.

While on the phone she tells dispatch her ex-husband is on parole and 911 operators begin to hear a loud disturbance in the background.

The first officer to arrive hears screaming from inside the apartment. As the suspect is exiting the apartment, he pointed a handgun at the officer.  One officer fired, striking the suspect. The female was able to retreat into her apartment as the suspect tried to flee on foot. He was immediately taken into custody, a short distance away, and provided medical attention.  The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

The female victim was evaluated on scene for minor injuries she received during the incident.

No officers were injured during this incident.
