Today the Westminster Police Department was notified by a citizen of the possible location of the car involved in last night’s hit and run accident. The citizen said they saw the Facebook post on the police department’s page and led officers to the area of 96th Avenue and Elm Street. Based on damage to the car, detectives believed this was in fact the vehicle involved in the crash. Westminster Detectives were able to contact the registered owner of the car, Erik Bryant Alvarenga, and based on the investigation he was arrested for the accident.
Mr. Alvarenga will be housed at the Adams County Detention Facility on the below charges:
Hit and Run 42-4-1601(1)(2)(c) F3
Vehicular Homicide – Reckless 18-3-106(1)(A) F4
Failed to Remain at the Scene of an Accident 42-4-1606(1) M
At this time, speed is believed to be a factor in this case.
