Blue-green algae found in Faversham Lake
UPDATE AS OF SEPT. 10:
Test results came back negative for blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) at Faversham Lake. However, restrictions are still in place for your safety: swimming is prohibited and pet contact with the water is discouraged due to the variable water quality consistent with public ponds and lakes.
At this time, we are not aware of any blue-green algae blooms in Westminster. However, blue-green algae are common, and blooms happen frequently in Colorado—particularly during warm months. If you see algae blooms, the best way to stay safe is to stay out of the water (and keep pets away from the water as well). To learn more about these algae blooms, please visit the Colorado Dept. of Health and Environment’s website: https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/harmful-algae-blooms.
