City Council moves to fill vacancy

Mayor Pro Tem Anita Seitz assumed the office of Mayor on Monday, May 10, creating a vacancy for the remainder of her previous seat’s unexpired term (2½ years). As required by the Westminster City Charter (“Charter”) Section 5.7 and Westminster Municipal Code (“WMC”) Section 1-11-4, such a vacancy must be filled by a majority vote of remaining members of the City Council. If any vacancy that the City Council is authorized to fill is not so filled within 30 days after the vacancy occurs, it shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term at a special election.

Applications for the Council vacancy will be accepted online beginning Thursday, May 13 through Sunday, May 23 at 11:59 p.m. Applicants must submit a complete application and are highly encouraged to include a resume, cover letter, and any other additional information the applicant chooses to be considered.
