City Manager Tripp Steps Down After Nearly A Decade of Service To Westminster

Earlier today, City Manager Donald M. Tripp submitted and the City Council accepted his resignation. In order to ensure a smooth transition, and with the full support of City Council, Jody Andrews will serve as acting city manager. City Council will begin a search for a new city manager following the November election.

“I have for some time now believed that we needed a change―a new voice to guide city staff―but I wanted to support our police department and ensure our officers have leadership in place before I stepped down. While there is never a perfect time to let go of the reins, I am thankful to have a strong executive team, and I am confident the city will have a smooth transition,” said Donald M. Tripp.

Under Tripp's leadership, Westminster embarked on an ambitious redevelopment of a new downtown that attracted regionally and nationally recognized businesses. Tripp also strengthened the City’s affordable housing portfolio, and coming out of the pandemic, the city is on solid financial footing and in the midst of a robust economic recovery.

“Don is a dynamic, solution-oriented leader and he has built a strong executive team who will continue to ensure our city services and infrastructure are delivered equitably, sustainably, and effectively. I thank him for his near decade of service with the city,” said Mayor Anita Seitz. “The City has a strong leadership team, and I am confident the city will continue to provide high-quality city services while we begin our search for a permanent city manager.” Mr. Tripp has served as city manager since 2015 and was the director of Parks, Recreation, and Libraries from 2012-15.
