At a recent press conference, Governor Jared Polis extended the stay-at-home order to Sunday, April 26.
“We are beginning to see the impact of the actions we have taken so far, but I can’t stress enough the importance of staying home during these next few weeks,” said Governor Polis.
Data shows that social distancing and the stay-at-home order have helped slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The number of positive cases of COVID-19 at the start of the outbreak was doubling about every 1.5 days. Now it’s doubling about every six to seven days, so the “curve” is indeed flattening thanks to these social distancing measures.
Everyone is encouraged to keep practicing prevention measures, such as hand washing, social distancing, and now wearing face coverings when in public.
Governor Polis and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) are now recommending everyone over two years of age wear non-medical, cloth/fabric face coverings when leaving their home. The face coverings can be made from scarves, shirts, bandanas or similar materials and should not restrict your ability to breathe.
Your safety and well-being will continue to be the primary focus as we help each other through this public health crisis.

Orden de quedarse en casa se extiende hasta el 26 de abril, se recomienda taparse la cara
En una conferencia se prensa, el gobernador Jared Polis extendió la orden de quedarse en casa hasta el domingo, 26 de abril.
“Estamos empezando a ver el impacto de las acciones que hemos tomado hasta ahorita, y me gustaría volver a enfatizar la importancia de quedarse en casa durante las próximas semanas”, dijo el gobernador Polis.
Las estadísticas muestran que el distanciamiento social y la orden de quedarse en casa a ayudado a desacelerar la propagación del coronavirus. El numero de casos desde que se empezó la propagación se había estado doblando cada día y medio. Ahora se está doblando cada seis a siete días. Esto quiere decir que la curva se está allanando.
Se recomienda seguir practicando medidas de higiene como lavarse las manos frecuentemente, distanciamiento social y cubrirse la cara en público.
El gobernadora Polis y el Departamento de Salud e Ambiente de Colorado (Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment ,CDPHE, por sus siglas en ingles) ahora recomiendan a todas las personas mayores de dos año, usar mascaras que no sean de uso médico, echas de tela para cubrirse la cara cuando salgan de su casa. También se pueden usar bufandas, camisetas, pañuelos o materiales similares.
