Food assistance programs adjust hours during holidays
Food distribution for people needing assistance will look different during the last two weeks of the year. Here are the modified schedules for school meal pickups for students in the city and food pantries’ operating hours.
Adams County School District 12 Five Star schools will not distribute food between Friday, Dec.18, and Tuesday, Dec. 29. However, additional food was distributed the week of Dec. 15. Visit their website for more information.
Jefferson County Public School District continued its meal pickup program for any Jefferson County student at both Wayne Carle Middle School and Pomona High School on Tuesday, Dec. 15 and Thursday, Dec. 17 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. A seven-day meal pack will be distributed on Monday, Dec. 21 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. to cover the holiday break.
Westminster Public Schools will continue to offer “grab and go” meals at Westminster High School, Ranum Middle School, Shaw Heights Middle School, the Colorado Sports Leadership Academy, the Swim & Fitness Center and Westminster City Park Recreation Center. WPS will distribute meals on Dec. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 and Jan. 4 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Growing Home is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon by appointment by calling 720-407-1977. They will be closed Dec. 25 and Dec. 26, and Jan. 1 and 2.
Westminster Presbyterian Church FISH Food Pantry operates on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:45-3:15 p.m. and Tuesdays from 5:30-6 p.m They will be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
Have a Heart will be open Saturday, Dec. 19.
