Lowell Boulevard water main project working overnight on Oct. 6

Crews will be installing a section of water main at the intersection of 72nd Avenue and Lowell Boulevard. This work will take place overnight on Sunday, Oct. 6 to minimize traffic disruption.

This overnight work is being completed by the city’s in-house water main replacement crew who is replacing a section of water main in Historic Westminster. They have been working on Lowell Boulevard from 72nd Avenue past 71st Place to the railroad tracks. They are replacing approximately 640’ of old deteriorating 6” and 8” water mains with a new 8” PVC water main.

Traffic control will be in place throughout the duration of the project and nearby residents have been notified about this project by letter. The project began in August will be complete by the end of October.

The water main replacement crew replaces about two miles of aging water mains every year to maintain high-quality and reliable drinking water service. Thank you for your patience while we invest in this critical infrastructure.
