Only certain fireworks are allowed in the city

Fireworks that explode, emit a loud bang, leave the ground due to an explosive charge, or fly through the air self-propelled are always illegal for people to handle, possess, sell, storage, and/or use within the city.

Permissible fireworks are non-explosive pyrotechnics that are not intended to leave the ground or create a loud noise and include:

  • Fountains
  • Ground spinners
  • Illuminating torches
  • Dipped sticks and sparklers
  • Trick noise makers

These types of fireworks are allowed from midnight Friday, July 3 through noon Sunday, July 5.

For chronic violators, anonymous tips can be left at 303-706-3812. Officers will contact the home/violator, but cannot issue a summons.

If there is a fire or injury related to fireworks, please call 911.

Have a fun and safe Fourth of July!
