Does Westminster have enough water? How does development impact future water demand? The city recently took a close look at answering these questions, and more, with an update to its Water Supply Plan.
The Water Supply Plan is a long-term analysis of the city’s water supply needs in conjunction with other planning efforts—most notability the Comprehensive Plan.
The goals of the Water Supply Plan include identifying how much water the city’s system can produce, how much water our community needs in the Comprehensive Plan’s time horizon (2040), and the risk of potential water supply shortfall.
The results of the Water Supply Plan show that the city has sufficient water to support the needs of the community if development occurs in line with the existing Comprehensive Plan, water conservation trends continue, and if the Wattenberg Reservoir is completed.
