The city recently held two livestreamed web forums, one for residents and one for businesses, to pass along information, answer questions, and hear thoughts and concerns from the community. The forums were held Thursday, April 2.
The first forum for residents was titled “Westminster Resilient: COVID-19 Response” and discussed the city’s emergency operations center, offered resources to residents, and heard from city officials about their department’s operations.
“The biggest challenge we face is protecting the city and protecting the lives of our residents,” said City Manager Don Tripp. “Look in on your neighbors and support local businesses. If you would like to contact the city, you can email us at covid19@westminsterco.gov.”
The livestream also featured updates from Police Chief Tim Carlson, Fire Chief Doug Hall, and Parks, Recreation and Libraries Director Jason Genck.
The second forum was titled “Westminster Business Support Forum – COVID-19 Recovery” and offered many resource for local businesses, from the Small Business Administration and the Colorado Small Business Development Network.
The city’s Economic Development Department is focused on business resources and support within the next 30 to 670 days, days including connections to resources, education, contact, and case management to help understand what will become available and how to access funds or grants. City staff are making “care calls” to businesses to ask what they can do to help during this crisis.
The Westminster Chamber of Commerce launched a COVID-19 page on their web site that includes funding sources, grants and access to food sources. They also have been hosting videos with business owners, webinars on skills and training for businesses, and industry town halls. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
Foros virtuales ofrecen ayuda y recursos a negocios
La ciudad organizo dos foros virtuales, el jueves 2 de abril, para residentes y negocios con el objetivo de proveer información, contestar preguntas y escuchar las inquietudes de la comunidad.
Durante primer foro para residentes, titulado, “Westminster Unido: Respuesta al COVID-19”, se habló sobre la función del centro de operaciones de emergencia de la ciudad durante esta crisis, los recursos disponibles para los residentes y la operación de cada departamento de la ciudad.
“El reto más grande que enfrentamos es proteger a la ciudad y la vida de los residentes”, dijo el Gestor Municipal, Don Tripp. “Cuidemos de nosotros mismos y de nuestros vecinos y apoyemos a los negocios locales. Si alguien gusta contactarse con la ciudad, por favor mándenos un email a covid19@westminsterco.gov”.
El primer foro en vivo también tuvo como invitados a el jefe de la policía Tim Carlson, jefe de bomberos Doug Hall, y el director de Parques Recreación y Bibliotecas, Jason Genck.
El segundo foro titulado, “Foro de Apoyo para Negocios- Recuperación económica después de COVID-19”, ofreció muchos recursos para los negocios locales de parte de Small Business Administration y Colorado Small Business Development Network.
El Departamento de Desarrollo Económico de la ciudad se ha enfocado en apoyar a los negocios locales dándoles recursos, educación, contactos y apoyo económico. Personal de la ciudad también ha llamado personalmente a los dueños de negocios locales para ofrecer ayuda durante esta crisis.
