Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport to hold public meetings about noise
The Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (RMMA) and surrounding municipalities have started an Airport Community Noise Roundtable to address concerns raised by members of local communities. The roundtable’s founding members include the Cities of Westminster, Arvada, Louisville, and Arvada, the Town of Superior, the City and County of Broomfield, and Jefferson and Boulder counties.
The first meeting of the roundtable is scheduled to occur Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at 9 a.m. These meetings will be broadcast to the public.
Meeting details and a formal agenda will be published on the Airport Community Noise Roundtable website.
The RMMACNR is currently scheduled to take public comment on a quarterly basis, with the first public comment date to-be-determined by the members at this upcoming meeting.
Over the years, RMMA has spearheaded or participated in ways to mitigate noise and other concerns from surrounding communities. Those include:
RMMA has been owned and operated by Jefferson County since 1960, and the airport has grown along with the surrounding region. As a business that seeks to be part of the community, RMMA listens closely to community concerns about flight operations, noise and other topics and have worked with the community over the years, especially as the communities and number of residents around the airport has grown, to address concerns and continue to do so.
