RTD considering service reduction during labor shortage

Press release from Regional Transportation District (RTD).

We need your voice! You may have heard, RTD has a shortage of bus and rail operators and it’s impacting our ability to provide our riders with the reliable service they deserve. It’s also requiring many of our operators to work six-day work weeks. This affects everyone, from the people we serve to the people who provide the service.

To better balance our staffing with a level of service that RTD can reliably deliver, we are considering a potential temporary service reduction in response to an ongoing labor shortage, and issues with recruiting and retaining bus and light rail operators.

Before any decisions can be made, RTD is seeking input from the communities we serve, and we want to hear from you. Through Nov. 17, there are a number of opportunities to provide your thoughts about the current level of service and the possibility of a temporary service reduction:

  • By attending a telephone town hall meeting with RTD GM and CEO Dave Genova on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 6:30 p.m.
  • By completing a short survey from RTD staff at select bus and light rail stations on Nov. 11, 12, 13 and 14
  • By completing the survey online by 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17.
  • By submitting a comment through RTD’s social media platforms

Your voice matters so please share your thoughts with us.
