The 92nd Avenue Safety Improvements project will improve the north side of West 92nd Avenue between Ingalls Street and Eaton Street. Construction is scheduled to start mid to late July.
In addition to the street improvements, the project will replace asphalt, improve the sidewalk, and reconfigure the lanes along Harlan Street between 92nd Avenue and 84th Avenue.
The project will include:
- Addition of a curb and gutter to remove the third lane
- Evaluation of street lighting
- Striping and signage
- Drainage improvements
- Landscaping
- ADA ramps
- New sidewalk
- New crosswalks with signals
This project will address safety concerns at the intersections along West 92nd Avenue between Eaton Street and Ingalls Street. It will also improve safety and mobility improvements along Harlan Street.
The project will make the fourth westbound 92nd Avenue lane a right turn only at Eaton Street from the U.S. 36 overpass. The fourth westbound traffic lane on West 92nd Avenue between Eaton Street and Westminster Boulevard will be removed. The third westbound lane will then become a right turn only at Westminster Boulevard.
Between Westminster Boulevard and Ingalls Street, the current acceleration lane will be removed and become a right turn only at Ingalls Street. By removing these lanes, the crossing distance for left turning vehicles from Ingalls Street will be reduced.
The asphalt resurfacing project along Harlan Street is scheduled to repair the worn and damaged pavement including any damages done to the road due to construction traffic. This project also includes sidewalk improvements, a new lane configuration to include bike lanes and on-street parking along Harlan Street.
