Update as of 02/19/20

The process of bringing justice for Yasmin Usama DaHabrah can now begin with the capture of James Arthur Naulls Jr.  The Westminster Police Department in coordination with the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force has been diligently turning over every stone to locate Mr. Naulls and get him into custody.

In an earlier press release we indicated our belief was family or friends were helping Mr. Naulls evade capture.  The Safe Streets Fugitive Unit uncovered several pieces of information that led a coordinated effort to locate and arrest Mr. Naulls in Houston, Texas. 

Yesterday afternoon, officers from the Houston Police Department North Tac Unit arrested Mr. Naulls after coordinated surveillance efforts.  Mr. Naulls was exiting an auto parts store and was taken into custody without incident.  Detectives from the Westminster Police Department have flown to Houston to follow up on the investigation. 

Because Mr. Naulls was arrested in Texas, he will appear before a judge for an extradition hearing in the coming days.  While awaiting his court appearance he will be housed at the Harris County Joint Processing Center (JPC) on Westminster’s no-bond first degree murder warrant. 

The efforts of the media and public to provide tips and help locate Mr. Naulls has been tremendous.  It is too early to determine if any specific tip developed the actual lead which helped locate Mr. Naulls.  Support from Metro Denver Crime Stoppers significantly assisted in bringing attention to this case.  Detectives determined Mr. Naulls began wearing costume make-up to hide his tattoos and fled to Texas because there was no place for him to hide in Colorado.      

As a separate aspect of the investigation, detectives are focusing on bringing charges against those who helped him evade capture and flee to Texas.  Throughout the investigation we discovered several leads that affirmed Mr. Naulls was getting help to evade police.     

When the DaHabrah family was notified of his arrest they said, “We are elated that he has been arrested… overwhelmed when Detectives called and couldn’t stop shaking for hours after hearing the news.”  The family is still grieving the loss of Yasmin and is very private about their grief.  They asked for this statement to stand as their response to any media inquiry and do not wish to be a part of any interviews.

***Denver Metro Crime Stoppers raised the reward to $10,00 for information that helps get Mr. Naulls into custody***

The Westminster Police Department is still actively looking for James Arthur Naulls Jr.  Today, our partners at Metro Denver Crime Stoppers increased the reward to ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for information leading to the arrest of Mr. Naulls.

We believe someone in the Denver area knows where Mr. Naulls is currently staying.  We are asking the public to provide us the tip that leads to the arrest of Mr. Naulls and justice for Yasmin Usama Dahabrah.

The FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force is helping in the efforts to locate and apprehend Mr. Naulls.  Police are asking the public to help by calling the Westminster Police Department with any information that will help locate him (303-658-4360).  If you have information but need to remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).  A reward of up to $10,000 is available for any information that leads to his capture. 

Mr. Naulls has very distinct facial and neck tattoos.  He is 5’07” and weighs 190 pounds; he has brown eyes and a shaved head.

Date – February 3, 2020

The public has shown great interest and support in our plea to help capture James Arthur Naulls Jr.  Today it is with sadness that we report, according to doctors, that Yasmin Usama Dahabreh succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the hospital.  The family is mourning their loss and has asked for privacy at this time, but with a renewed request for the public to help find Mr. Naulls.

Westminster detectives have followed-up on several tips and leads, but we are still waiting for the one that helps capture Mr. Naulls.  Through our investigation, we have reason to believe some of Mr. Naulls’ friends or family are helping him hide and evade capture.  Mr. Naulls’ is wanted in connection with a murder investigation and deserves due process of the judicial system, but those found to help him avoid capture will also be investigated, and if appropriate, charges will be filed against them.  Accessory to Crime is a class 5 Felony in Colorado.    

Please look at these photographs and if you see Mr. Naulls call 911 immediately.  Several sightings have been shared through social media but we need people to recognize the inherent delay with this method of reporting.  The best way to notify police in this case is by calling 911. 

If you are too scared to call police directly, you can share tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).  You will remain completely anonymous and could be paid a reward of up to $2000 for information that leads to Mr. Naulls capture.  Mr. Naulls should be considered violent and dangerous; do not approach him or try to apprehend him.  Call police immediately.

Date – February 1, 2020 Original Press Release 

Yesterday, January 31, 2020, the Westminster Police Department received a 911 call at 1:59pm reference a 33 year old female who needed immediate medical help.  The call originated as a medical call indicating the female had fallen, but officers quickly uncovered suspicious circumstances that led to an arrest warrant for James Arthur Naulls Jr. (DOB: 11-22-89).

The investigation revealed that Mr. Naulls physically beat and strangled his ex-wife.  She was transported to an undisclosed hospital by Westminster Fire Department paramedics and her condition is grave.  She has serious and life-threatening injuries. 

Mr. Naulls was involved in a domestic violence incident on November 14, 2019 in Denver where he was charged with aggravated assault.  He was placed on pre-trial release with a GPS ankle monitor.  Westminster Police believe Mr. Naulls cut off his ankle monitor to keep police from locating him.  He is currently on the run and we believe an ongoing threat to the victim.  We believe he has tried calling local hospitals to find his ex-wife.
