The city’s Volunteer Program gathered 25 healthy adult volunteers to assist with grocery and essential item delivery to high-risk Westminster residents. Recipients included older adults and people of any age with underlying health conditions, such as diabetes, lung disease or heart disease who are at greater risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
The program’s first call for assistance successfully delivered an expired medical prescription to an 85-year-old resident who was unable to leave her home. The program staff is also working with Parks, Recreation and Libraries and the Westminster Legacy Foundation to deliver donated food to high-risk residents and families who are experiencing food insecurities during this time.
Volunteers will pick up pre-placed orders from participating vendor locations and drop off at residents’ doorstep. Read more about the opportunity on our volunteer site or complete the volunteer application.
