What will Westminster look like in 20 years?

If you had a crystal ball to look 20 years into the city’s future, what would it look like? An update of the Comprehensive Plan, originally adopted in 2013, is underway. The first draft of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan is available for public review. An interactive activity to review the Plan is available at http://bit.ly/WestminsterForward. The platform provides a forum to offer comments on the plan.

For those unable to participate in the online activity, hardcopies will be made available at both the College Hill and Irving Street libraries. Comments may be emailed to westminsterforward@westminsterco.gov or submitted by mail to the City of Westminster Community Development Department; 4800 W. 92nd Avenue, Westminster, CO 80031, Attention: Comprehensive Plan.

The public comment period ends May 31. A City Council study session, tentatively scheduled for June 21, will be held to follow up on the introduction of the Comprehensive Plan, which will be revised as appropriate based on any feedback received.

In 2018, the City launched processes to update the Comprehensive Plan as part of Westminster Forward, the coordinated community engagement process to support six concurrent citywide planning efforts including the Comprehensive Plan; Parks, Recreation and Libraries Plan; Sustainability Plan; Transportation and Mobility Plan; Water Supply Plan; and a companion effort, Code Forward, to update standards for new development.  All Westminster Forward Plans are cognizant of the City’s vision statement: We are a thriving community of safe neighborhoods and beautiful open space that is sustainable and inclusive.
