Your Guide to a Sustainable Spring

Your Guide to a Sustainable Spring

Spring is here! With the new season comes a refresh and opportunities to make our daily lives more sustainable. Check out the programs and resources below to find tips on spring cleaning, saving money, and prioritizing the environment!

Get a head start on your garden with free mulch

Just in time to prepare for spring gardening, the City's self-serve mulch site is now open for the season. Westminster residents can haul away as much mulch as needed, free of charge. All mulch is the product of the City's tree limb recycling events held throughout the year. Learn more.

Learn more about low-water landscapes with waterwise webinars

The City and Resource Central are hosting FREE Waterwise Yard Seminars this spring and summer! The virtual webinars will connect you with local sustainability professionals who will share tips for an easy transition to low-water landscapes. Ask questions, get advice, and create your low-water dream yard this spring. Register now.

Mow down pollution

Go electric with your lawn care equipment. The Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) is offering several vouchers through Ace Hardware and Home Depot that may include:

  • $75 voucher for handheld electric equipment. (Recycling of a gas item required)

  • $75 voucher for electric lawn mower (No recycling necessary as we want to encourage eco-friendliness)

  • $150 voucher for electric lawn mower (Recycling of a gas mower required.)

Only one voucher per household is allowed per year. Learn more.

Keep materials out of the landfill using the Hard to Recycle Guide

Have stuff that you just don’t know what to do with? Use our Hard to Recycle Guide to learn where to dispose of unwanted items. If you need recycling information on a material not found in this guide, call the City of Westminster at 303-658-2400 or email HHWhotline@westminsterco.gov

Cut down on clutter by borrowing items from Westminster Public Libraries!

Are bulky belongings taking up space in your garage or home? Consider checking out those items from WPL and eliminating the need to store them all year long! There’s more to check out than just books. Find activities for all ages such as video games, educational toys, gardening kits, fishing pole kits, nature exploration packs, craft kits, and more. Learn more.

Plan a Home Energy Squad visit

Start your journey toward lower energy bills and a more efficient home. Westminster residents can choose between a no-cost Home Energy Squad visit or upgrade to a $100 Home Energy Squad Plus visit.
