Subject: Shooting/Homicide Arrest

Date – January 9, 2018

Just after midnight on January 5, 2018 the Westminster Police received a 911 call about an accident in the 9200 block of Federal Boulevard. 

Officers arrived at the apartment complex and discovered a SUV had crashed into a lower level apartment. 

The driver of the SUV was suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to the hospital with a non- life threatening gunshot wound.

Since this incident Westminster Police have been working diligently, following up on leads.  Today, with the help of the Aurora Police Department, Dariques Hemphill and Kerstie Lynn Arnold were taken into custody on the following charges;

First Degree Murder
Aggravated Robbery
First Degree Assault
Felony Menacing

Due to the ongoing investigation, we will not be releasing mug shots at this time.

Officers arrived at the apartment complex and discovered a SUV had crashed into a lower level apartment. 

The driver of the SUV was suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to the hospital with a non life threatening gunshot wound.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored SUV.  We do not have any additional information on the suspect at this time, however we do not believe there is a danger to the public.

The individuals in the apartment were not injured.
