Date – April 26, 2019

At approximately 12:30 pm, officers were dispatched to the call of a male acting erratically and throwing rocks outside the Westbury Apartments, located in the 11500 block of Pecos Street.

The initial information indicates that when the officer arrived, he exited his vehicle and was immediately attacked by the suspect, who attempted to get the officer’s gun.  The officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect. 

The suspect was transported to a hospital and was pronounced deceased.  The officer was also transported for the injuries he received during the assault.  He has since been discharged from the hospital.

The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Investigation Team will be handling the investigation.
