“Members of the Westminster Police Department are appalled at the indefensible force that led to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week. Officers must be held accountable for their actions and filing of murder charges has appropriately started that process. The actions of these officers in this case is contrary and inconsistent with any legitimate training and procedures of our profession. Officers and staff of this organization are heartbroken to see the devastation this incident has brought to the family and friends of Mr. Floyd, and also to our communities throughout the nation. In Westminster, our ability to properly serve is built on trust. Events such as this strain that trust which we are committed to strengthen and enhance each day going forward with every member of our community.”
