07-15-19 ***UPDATE*** Road Rage

Date – July 16, 2019

On July 15, 2019, officers were dispatched to a road rage incident in the 10700 block of Sheridan Blvd. that resulted in one driver being shot by the other.  The driver that was shot, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital.

Mr.  Auston Smith was arrested on the charge of Assault in the First Degree.

Date – July 15, 2019

 At approximately 1:40 pm, officers were dispatched to the 10700 block of Sheridan Blvd. in regard to a road rage incident.  While officers were on the way to the call, they were told that a physical altercation had occurred between the drivers of two vehicles. The altercation escalated and one driver produced a handgun and shot the other driver. 

The driver that discharged his handgun remained on scene.  The other driver was also contacted and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Both drivers are being cooperative.

There is no threat to the public and all parties involved have been accounted for. 

Eastbound 112th Ave. was shut down temporarily but has since reopened. 

The cause of the altercation is not known at this time. 

The Westminster Police Department would like to remind the public that if they witness an aggressive driver, do not become involved and please call 911.
