3/7/18 Homicide Investigation

On March 7, 2018 around 10:50pm Westminster Police received a 911 call of a possible shooting in the area of 5500 79th Avenue.

Officers who were in the area observed a SUV leaving the scene and attempted to stop the vehicle.  When officers attempted to stop the SUV, it fled from officers.  Officers were able to deploy stop sticks on the SUV and the driver and passenger both ran on foot into the neighborhood off of 112th Avenue and Federal Boulevard.

A CodeRed notification was sent to residents in the neighborhood.

Officers quickly established a perimeter and were able to take a male subject into custody.

The second subject was identified and is not believed to be involved in the shooting.

A second CodeRed notification was sent out to the area to let the residents know we were no longer looking for anyone and we did not believe there was still a danger to the public.

At this time we do have a suspect in custody, however do to the ongoing investigation we are not releasing his identity at this time. We will be releasing this information later this morning.
