House Fire Displaces Three People in Westminster

August 24, Westminster, CO – Three people living near 81st and Tennyson Street in Westminster lost their home to a fire Friday morning.  While they made it out without injury, the house itself is a total loss.  The cause is still under investigation.

The first engine arrived on scene less than five minutes after the 911 call was made, finding that fire had engulfed the entire back of the house, and that dark black smoke had consumed the interior.  Units from both Westminster and Arvada worked to bring the fire under control within 22 minutes.  Crews and investigators were on scene for another four hours in an attempt to salvage any belongings and to determine the cause.

There were no injuries to the occupants or emergency personnel.  Residents in nearby homes evacuated by Westminster Police were back in their homes soon after the fire was out.

Westminster Fire Department reminds our citizens to check their smoke detectors regularly, and change the batteries every six months.  Fire can move quickly through a home, seconds might save your life.
