Date – September 27, 2018

Today around 3:30pm Westminster Police received a call about a serious single vehicle accident in the 8400 block of Federal Boulevard.

Witnesses told officers a SUV was travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on 84th Avenue.  The SUV then crossed lanes of traffic and struck a light pole and electrical pole on the south side of 84th Avenue at Federal Boulevard.

Two adult females were in the SUV at the time of the accident.  Both females were transported to a local hospital.  Initially the female passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital, however an update from the hospital stated they had taken the female passenger into surgery.

The female driver has minor injuries.

Due to the vehicle striking an electrical pole and the damage sustained to that pole we are working with Xcel Energy to stabilize the pole. Until that pole is stabilized northbound Federal Boulevard is shut down from 80th Avenue to 84th Avenue. 84th Avenue is shut down westbound from Bryant Street.  We have no estimated time on when the road will reopen.

At this time we do believe drugs and/or alcohol may be a factor.
