Calling all treasure hunters! Mysterious egg-laying creature returns to Standley Lake

Calling all treasure hunters! Mysterious egg-laying creature returns to Standley Lake

Strange bellows and a slew of nocturnal activity seemed eerily reminiscent of a creature that vanished from Standley Lake Regional Park sometime last year. When park rangers discovered a colorful nest of glass eggs on Sunday, Oct. 20, they  knew it could mean only one thing: the #StandleyMonster is back!

Now through the end of November, Standley Lake visitors can discover one-of-a-kind glass eggs or the coveted “rainbow poo” hidden along the park’s trails.

The best time to go treasure hunting is during normal park hours from sunrise to sunset. Drive-in access is from 7:30 a.m. to one hour before sunset. Regular vehicle admission fees of $7 per vehicle apply.

If you find a piece of monster evidence, it's yours to keep! Take your new treasure to the park’s Nature Center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a certificate of authenticity. Egg finders will also receive a free egg stand to display their new treasure while "rainbow poo" locators will receive a free t-shirt proclaiming their discovery.
