During the legislative sessions and prior to elections, the city can take official positions in support of or in opposition to proposals that might impact city operations and/or residents and businesses.
City Council has taken positions on three state and local ballot measures that Westminster residents of Jefferson and Adams counties will be voting on in the Tuesday, Nov. 5 election. These positions are:
• Proposition CC: Retain state government revenue – SUPPORT (6-1 vote) • Proposition DD: Legalization and taxation of sports betting to fund water projects and obligations – SUPPORT (unanimous) • Ballot Issue 1A (Jefferson County): Allow the county to keep taxes, grants and all other revenue that it collects during 2020 and expiring in 2026 (seven years) in excess of limits instituted from the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) – SUPPORT (unanimous)
