City Utility Engineering team showcases elevated water tank in latest video

What is out of sight, is out of mind. That’s true for many things, especially for water and wastewater infrastructure. To help raise the issue and provide more education, the city’s Public Works and Utilities Engineering team has stepped out of their comfort zone with a new video series called “Public Works Explains.”

The most recent video, produced by Senior Engineer Dan Strietelmeier covers the subject of elevated water tanks.

The city is currently constructing a new elevated tank near 97th Avenue and Federal Boulevard replacing the old Sunset Ridge elevated water tank that was first built in 1963. The new three million gallon tank combined with the existing two million gallon hydropillar will sustain water pressure, provide backup supply, operational storage and storage for firefighting operations for a large area of the city.

Check out additional “Public Works Explains” videos and stay tuned for future videos on this YouTube playlist.
