Community survey mailed out to randomly selected residents

Every two years, the city mails out a survey to a randomly selected group of residents to get their feedback and rate how the city is doing. The 2020 community survey was mailed the week of January 16 to 4,000 households. In addition, an online version will be available at the beginning of February for any resident to fill out.

“The city has been doing the survey since 1992 and it is put together with the input of City Council, staff, and the City’s consultant, the National Research Center,” said Assistant City Manager Chris Lindsey. “This is a statistically valid survey because the sample is randomized to reflect the demographics of the whole city.”

The survey consists of 16 multiple choice questions, one fill-in-the-blank question and demographic information. Topics covered include community safety, the quality and importance of services, quality of life, and challenges facing the city. New this year is the write-in question, “What do you think is the single most important thing the City of Westminster could do to improve the quality of life for its community members?”

The results of previous surveys are available on the city’s web site: www.cityofwestminster.us/communitysurvey.

“The feedback we receive advises City Council when they do their strategic planning process and it informs the city’s budget process,” said Lindsey. “If you receive a survey, please fill it out and let us know what you think!”

Survey results will be posted on the city’s website in mid-April.

Also new this year is a digital sounding board. All residents are invited to join the panel and provide feedback to the city on a range of topics such as parks, roads, policing and more. After signing up, the city may email you about once a month for your feedback about city initiatives, services and new ideas. Your email is kept private and will not be used for any other purpose.
