Emily Littlejohn named Information Technology Director

Emily Littlejohn has been appointed as the city’s new Information Technology Director, effective Monday, Aug. 5.

Littlejohn began her career with the City of Westminster in 2012 as Library Supervisor and has served in a number of roles in both the Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department and the Human Resources Department, including as Library Services Division Manager.

While a Division Manager, Littlejohn managed College Hill and Irving Street library’s digital and web-based services. Littlejohn also led the library master plan process and strategic planning efforts, provided leadership to a division of over 40 employees, and served on several citywide committees.

Littlejohn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from St. Mary’s College of California, a Master of Arts in Humanities from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Denver. Littlejohn has worked for the Denver Public Library, providing virtual reference services and the creation and maintenance of e-learning courses. She has also served as a college instructor and registrar, and has taught numerous classes on database use, research skills and professional communications. Littlejohn is also a published author.

“The city is very excited to have Littlejohn join the IT team,” said City Manager Don Tripp. “Her leadership philosophy is collaborative and communicative. She believes in the importance of leading by example and committing to action, which will be valuable to Westminster.”

The IT Director position had previously been filled by David Puntenney for 20 years. After his retirement announcement, Software Engineering Manager Art Rea served as the Interim Director for five months.
