The company Extraction Oil & Gas is in the process of plugging and reclaiming the first of two wells within Westminster, an operation that removes derelict wells that are no longer productive. The first of these operations is currently underway north of 136th Avenue near Orchard Parkway northwest of Westminster Crossings shopping center.

The second of these plugging and reclaiming operations will take place in mid-November southwest of St. Anthony North’s medical campus. It’s expected to last approximately three to five weeks.

The timelines for both operations are approximate and subject to change. Extraction Oil & Gas has provided a document and maps detailing the work within Westminster.

No new wells are being installed at either of these locations at this time, and operations will occur during daylight hours only.

Notices of both operations were mailed to nearby residents and hand delivered to local businesses.
