Previously planned for April 25, the city’s Great Global Cleanup event has been rescheduled with some modifications. The event will now be held not just one day, but the week of June 29.
Also, volunteer groups will be kept to 10 individuals or fewer, will be socially distant while working and are picking time slots to cleanup to stay separate from other groups. Volunteers who registered previously will have the opportunity to participate in this large scale trash cleanup, but the event is not accepting any new registrations.
“We had over 700 volunteers register for the Great Global Cleanup before the Public Health Orders in March paused all volunteer activity throughout the city,” said Open Space Specialist Kristen May. “As the state and county orders continue to evolve and many residents turn to outdoor public spaces for exercise and recreation, trash cleanup in our parks, open spaces and streets remains very important.”
