Remote public participation encouraged at Council meetings
City Council and staff want to hear from the community while keeping the health and safety of everyone a top priority. To achieve that goal, the city will continue to follow all health department guidelines and observe social distancing as Council meetings continue to be open to the public remotely.
Council members, however, will return to City Hall starting Monday, Oct. 19 for meetings and study sessions.
Update Oct. 17: Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the area and at the advisement of Tri-County Health Department, City Council will continue remote participation for meetings at this time.
Meetings and study sessions will continue to be open to the public only by watching online or listening by phone. View more information at www.cityofwestminster.us/Government/CityCouncil/MeetingWebcasts.
Even though community members can’t attend Council meetings in person, they are encouraged to participate in the Public Comment portion of meetings in one of three ways:
- Submit written comments via email to PublicComment@westminsterco.gov by noon the day of the meeting. Written comments are forwarded to Council and become part of the permanent record. Written comments are not read aloud during the meeting.
- Leave verbal comments by calling 303-706-3111 by noon the day of the meeting. Recorded messages are limited to five minutes, and the system will disconnect automatically after the time limit is reached. All recorded messages are played back in the order they are received at the meeting.
- Sign up to speak live during the meeting using our virtual online platform. Learn more about this process. Email cityclerk@westminsterco.gov to add your name to the list of live speakers by no later than noon on the day of the meeting.
Members of the public are also encouraged to participate in Public Hearings at Council meetings. Please refer to the specific participation methods listed in the Agenda Memorandums for the item. All Agenda Memorandums can be found at www.cityofwestminster.us/agendas.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the City Clerk’s office at 303-658-2162 or email cityclerk@westminsterco.gov.
