Street improvement projects continue

Street improvement projects continue

There are several street improvement projects happening in the city. Here is a summary of the ones happening in the next two weeks.

Simms Street from 100th Ave to Westmoor Drive

The road will be paved beginning Monday, July 20, and temporary line tabs to be placed behind the paving. Striping will begin on Monday, July 27. Message boards were placed on the road during the week of July 13 to alert drivers of paving operations and lane configuration changes.

Paving operations will move next to 117th Avenue from Wolf Street to 118th Place.

As part of this work (the city’s Bicycle Master Plan and current development of the Transportation & Mobility Plan) new bike facilities will be added to Simms Street between 100th Avenue and Westmoor Drive at the end of July or early August.

104th Avenue/Church Ranch Blvd bridge over US-36

The city’s concrete contractor will be repairing concrete on this bridge to improve drainage during the week of July 20.

Park Terrace subdivision

After completing work on the 104th Avenue/Church Ranch Blvd bridge over US-36, the city’s concrete contractor will be repairing concrete throughout the Park Terrace subdivision. Additional road work is also planned for the Park Terrace subdivision in 2021.

104th Avenue/Church Ranch Blvd Road improvements

Beginning Monday, July 27, the city’s road contractor will mill the existing road surface on 104th Avenue/Church Ranch Blvd from Sheridan Blvd to Wasdworth Blvd and apply a new road surface. This work will last several week and traffic control will be in place. No road closures are planned. Please slow down when traveling through this area to protect road crews.

As part of this project, the city will be testing new roadway materials to see if they last longer than the standard material the city uses for its roadway projects.

City Park Fitness Center and parking lot project

The parking lots on the north side of City Park including the Fitness Center will be milled during the week of July 20 and paved during the week of July 27. Line painting will take place at the end of July or early August.  This work will be coordinated with summer camps at City Park and will not impact drop offs or pickups.
