Water mains replaced along Lowell Blvd

The city’s in-house water main replacement crew is heading to Historic Westminster. They will be working on Lowell Boulevard from 72nd Avenue past 71st Place to the railroad tracks beginning Wednesday, Aug. 14. They will replace approximately 640’ of old deteriorating 6” and 8” water mains with a new 8” PVC water main.

Traffic control will be in place throughout the duration of the project and nearby residents will be notified about this project by letter. The project is expected to take about two months to complete.

Lowell Boulevard will not be closed during this project, but detours will be in place because turning lanes will be occasionally blocked.

The water main replacement crew replaces about two miles of aging water mains every year to maintain high-quality and reliable drinking water service. Thank you for your patience while we invest in this critical infrastructure.
