Westminster City Clerk To Depart From the City; Senior Deputy Clerk Appointed as Interim

Westminster, CO – City Clerk Michelle Parker is leaving her role effective September 30, 2021. Parker is stepping away from public service to support her family through some health-related issues.

Senior Deputy City Clerk Abby Fitch will serve as Interim City Clerk through the Fall Elections.

The City Clerk’s Office certified the ballot on Thursday, September 2, 2021, and operations of the upcoming election will be led by Adams and Jefferson County. As with all regular Westminster elections, the City will once again contract with the Adams and Jefferson County Clerk’s Office to coordinate and administer the November 2, 2021, election.

In addition to city elections, the City Clerk is also responsible for business licensing, liquor licensing, public records requests, and Council appointments to Boards and Commissions.

“I want to thank Michelle for her commitment to the City of Westminster. Michelle’s resident-first approach helped make the City more transparent and service-oriented,” said City Manager Donald M. Tripp. “Under her leadership, the City Clerk’s Office digitized the city code and charter and streamlined and modernized the city’s open records process. And in response to the pandemic, the City Clerk’s Office began live-streaming City Council meetings to ensure community members could continue to engage and inform City Council and staff.”

The City will begin a search for a new City Clerk later this fall, and City Council will confirm the permanent position per City Charter.
