Westminster joins Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy

The City of Westminster is one of six communities in two states that was selected this spring for Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy program. This 2-year program will create a community-driven Energy Action Plan that will address some key energy questions: Where are we now? Where do we want to go?  How are we going to get there? How are we going to stay on course? The Energy Action Plan belongs to the community and becomes a road map for successfully achieving energy goals, including outlining responsibility, ownership and the metrics to define success.

As with other planning documents in a community, the Energy Action Plan and associated work products will be public and shared with community members and other communities. The plan will encourage energy efficiency and renewable energy, leverage existing resources and benefit the economic vitality, environmental health and well-being of our community. The city’s participation in Partners in Energy supports the vision to be “one of the most sustainable cities in America.”

The primary stakeholder group that will help develop the plan has been identified, however the city is interested in what all community members have to say. Stay tuned for more information and further updates.
