WestyRISE business grant program closes application period after overwhelming response
The response to the WestyRISE Business Grant program has been overwhelming with the Economic Development Department receiving over 400 applications since the launch on Monday, April 13. City staff are working diligently to review and process the applications and verify information. Therefore, the application window closed n Tuesday, April 14 at midnight..
The grant program, which is operating on a first-come, first-served basis, will be fully subscribed to by those who have already applied. Please note, however, that as city staff screen applications against the eligibility criteria, not every applicant will qualify for this program. The city, therefore, reserves the option of reopening this program should additional resources be available once we have completed review of this round of applications.
Please continue to check the Economic Development website regularly for updated information on a range of COVID-19 related business resources. Information is changing frequently, and the department is here to continue to provide assistance in navigating this challenging environment. Also, please note that our staff is currently placing “care calls” to all of our businesses and making sure that we have current information so we can reach you with critical information.
The city will also be evaluating additional options in moving forward with assistance to the business community and will bring those back to City Council for consideration and feedback.
The city thanks you for your commitment to our community, your perseverance in difficult times, and your desire to work in partnership with us.
